Kate Chopin

(born Katherine O’Flaherty) was born February 8th, 1850 in St.Louis, Missouri, USA and resided there untill her death on August 22nd, 1904, aged 54. She had six children in total and they were all born by the time Chopin was 29 years of age.

She wrote 2 novels, ‘At Fault‘ (1890) and ‘The Awakening’ (1899). The later of these novels was also adapted for radio on BBC Radio 4 for Woman’s Hour.

Chopin wrote hundreds of short stories in 1890’s; some were published in well established American magazines.
